The sound quality is clean yet punchy and dynamic, sounds true to the era, and just overall fantastic. No way to weigh the record, but it's an obviously sturdy 180g at least and plays nice and flat. I've seen wide range of visual quality on these records through the Discogs FB group, and am glad to say I lucked out on a beautiful copy, one of the better splatter records I've purchased in a while actually, to be relatively simple and all. Simply genius. Finally came across a copy in-store, being the classic that it is, and a personal favorite from the era, the choice to drop the 21 bucks on this was a no brainer. With many nights of introspection until the dawn fades to grey (also alluding to getting older, and not feeling like you have anything to show, especially as far as personal growth goes, for the time) There is an emptiness, you feel incomplete. Reinforced by the "Friends don't mean a thing, Guess I'll leave it up to me".Īnyone who has ever wrestled with depression and/or addiction and relate to this song. just the listlessness, restlessness, uneasy in his own skin. probably why she called him a creep.įeeling uninspired, think i'll start a fire etc. Guess I like to steal- can be taken literally, or that he has taken from others in his life as far as trust, infidelities, etc. Also means to tread lightly with him, as he a wild card, unsure of himself and how he will react in any given situation. so to say a wounded hand, is to say a wounded spirit or soul. Take time with a wounded hand - hands are our lives, the do so much. In a process of rediscovery of who he thought he was. Alls I gots is time, reinforces the legal aspect to this, but finds no meaning in his life, no rhyme nor reason for it. he guesses he's thankful to be alive, but feels like less of a man for accepting the arrangement, maybe less of a man for losing control of his life. To me means living under house arrest, part of his probation- and the depression that would accompany it, and for lack of a better phrase "Survivor's guilt". maybe stealing to survive poverty - i just don't know. A reference to the family and being raised, but is it a case of being told how much greater/smarter/more talented than anyone else, or is it a case of an abusive situation and finding a way out of it.

What they said was real, makes me want to steal - this part stumps me a bit. My InterpretationThis song seems to be about addiction and the personal struggles with it.įorward yesterday, makes me want to stay - replaying memories, fast forwarding in your mind to happier times Take time with a wounded hand 'guess I like to steal Think you're kinda neat then she tells me I'm a creepįriends don't mean a thing guess I'll leave it up to me Well, I'm half the man I used to be (this feeling as the dawn it fades to gray)įeeling uninspired think I'll start a fire I'm half the man I used to be (this feeling as the dawn it fades to gray) Take time with a wounded hand 'cause it likes to heal, Take time with a wounded hand 'cause I like to steal
